Contemporary Composition: The Major Pedagogical Theories By James A. Berlin

I thought this reading was super interesting because I don't really know all that much about teaching in general. This reading was really my first little foray into pedagogy and so I learned a lot. one of the quotes that really stood out to me was one that said: " The dismay students display about writing is, I am convinced, at least occasionally the result of teachers unconsciously offering contradictory advice about composting-guidance grounded in assumptions that simply do not square with each other". I thought this was kind of brilliant because I have a lot of friends from different majors who hate writing because they had a bad teacher once or they have a consistent experience with teachers who say one thing in class but grade based on a different standard. I also think that when we have a bad teacher or a boring class we tend to think to ourselves how we would do it differently if we were the teacher and I think this reading gives a good guideline to aspiring teachers on how to teach well.
